International Wine Purveyor, Peter Morales, Receives Prestigious Vision in Wine Award

Garden City, NY– Peter Morales, president and CEO of 57 Main Street Imports, was presented the regarded Vision in Wine award at the BCA (formerly Black Culinarian Alliance) third annual Global Food and Wine Experience on September 28 at Tavern on the Green in Central Park West. The award was presented by chef Marcus Samuelson.
The Vision in Wine Award recognizes individuals who work to build awareness and exposure to the wine industry for people of color. The award is sponsored by BCA, a non-profit networking organization which works to develop professional and education opportunities in the hospitality industry for minorities.
Based in Garden City, New York, Morales’ company is a leading importer of wines and spirits from South Africa, Italy, Spain, Argentina and Ireland. The company has gained much acclaim recently as a trendsetter in developing the recognition of South African wines in the United States and for its extensive philanthropic commitment through its Vision 57 Program, which reinvests a five percent portion of the proceeds from the wine import business into a host of charitable programs which focus on educational and social support for South Africans; co-sponsors the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education South African Study Tour and other initiatives which impact the global community. Morales has been a long-time supporter of BCA.
According to Alex Askew, president of BCA, “There are few individuals who have made great contributions to the food and wine industry and served as role models for future generations of industry professionals at the same time. Peter is one of the individuals and he is being recognized for sharing the goals of the BCA and furthering opportunities for minorities in our field.”
