Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay – Gold Medal Winner at Chardonnay du Monde Competition – One of the World’s Top 10 Chardonnays
03/22/07
14th annual Chardonnay du Monde® wine competition concludes in Burgundy with South Africa garnering four gold medal - of these four, the Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay 2006 secures a place in the competition’s prized Top Ten list
The Chardonnay du Monde® international competition recognizes the world’s best Chardonnay wines. This competition is based on a single conviction: distinctive marks of quality are the key to real differentiation and thus to enhancing the value of rewarded wines in a highly competitive market where the array of products becomes vaster each day. This event is unique in terms of its scope, its method and therefore its ambition: More than 900 wine samples, 38 countries and 300 international expert judges.
Chardonnay du Monde® has progressively distinguished itself from other international competitions thanks to quality standards that are much stricter than the norm and by remaining faithful to its founding principles, which has driven its success over the years: diversity, quality and high standards.
After four days of judging, the panels awarded medals to 315 or 33 % of the 949 wines entered. This year, the panel didn’t award Gold Medals of Excellence.
