Vergelegen Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2006 Rated 93 by Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar

03/24/09

“Palish yellow.  Ripe, complex and expressive on the nose, offering flinty, smoky mineral, honey and fig notes, as well as a note of creamed-corn reduction…  Wonderfully suave on the entry, then silky and youthful in the middle, with lovely tang to its flavors of stone and tropical fruits and minerals.  A saline element gives it a distinctly savory quality.  Impressively dense sauvignon without any impression of weight.  Finishes long, ripe and dry with a late nose of tangerine and no hardness.”
